In normal times, running out of juice is not a big deal. I believe many people still hope that the juice bottle will run out quickly so they can buy new juice and try other flavors. However, the whole society has been turned upside down by the covid-19 pandemic, running out of juice is now a nightmare for vapers. I can't remember how many times I had to squeeze every drop of juice to rinse the cotton, or puncture the bottom of the bottle to clean out the juice inside. With such "ruthless" experiences, I am quite confident in how to extend the usage time of a bottle of essential oil. In this still very tense epidemic situation, I think that experience is worth sharing. Everyone is limiting going out and not buying "non-essential" items, we should also be more frugal in using juice, right?
1. Put aside high-wattage vape mods
Or at least don't vape at full power.
Vaping with a box mod is very cool, it allows users to use many different modes, maximum control of the vapor according to their preferences. However, the downside is that when used at high power, it consumes a lot of juice. Fortunately, most vape mods can be adjusted to a fairly low power and the ohm receiving range is also very wide (usually from 0.03→3ohm).
2. Use coils with high ohm numbers
The Ohm index represents the ability to convert electrical energy into heat energy, the higher the ohm number, the less energy is needed to heat up. Coils with low ohm numbers often have very large cores and need a lot of energy as well as juice level to operate effectively. Conversely, with small core wires such as basic or clapton size 28 or higher, the ohm number will be larger and consume less juice while still ensuring the flavor in each vape puff.
3. Use essential oils with high PG concentrations
To refresh your knowledge, high VG e-liquids are thicker and require more energy to vaporize completely. Tanks designed for low ohm coils or mesh occs from some brands can work with thick juices. However, tanks designed for high ohm coils for secret vaping often have quite narrow wick slots. If you are using a coil with an ohm rating around 1.0 ohm and using it for MTL vaping, my advice is to use juice with a 50:50 ratio. Not only because these juices are thinner and easier to wick, but also because the harshness of most 50:50 juices will help you smoke less and thereby reduce the amount of e-liquid used in a day.
4. Nicotine salt is not a bad choice
Nicotine salt or salt nic is a new product that has recently appeared in vape juice. It contains a higher nicotine content while not being too harsh. My feeling about salt nic is that it gives a feeling of “high” faster, moreover, after smoking salt nic I do not feel the craving for nicotine to the point of having to “spam” the vape like when smoking freebase juice.
If you need a juice that can reduce your nicotine cravings and help you smoke less, try salt nic. On the other hand, if the throat hit is important to you, go for a freebase juice with 6 or 12mg nicotine/ml.
5. Gentlemen protect themselves, vapers protect juice
There’s no need to skimp on juice if you’re prepared for the worst. It’s never a bad idea to buy a little extra juice, especially if you’re in the habit of finishing a bottle of juice in a week. Personally, I buy at least 2 months worth of juice and store it in a dehumidifier. Some people may think this is redundant and silly, but that’s only if they’ve never run out of juice in the middle of the night and don’t know where to buy it.
“Having it not need it is better than needing it not having it”
The outbreak of the disease is something no one wants, but it has happened. We have to learn to adapt and minimize its negative impact. So vapers, prepare yourself a satisfactory vape kit, a delicious bottle of juice and stay home, stay safe!
