Lately, we’ve been hearing stories about some mech suddenly exploding. The mainstream media has been labeling vaping as dangerous, but never really looking into what causes these accidents.
Most of the incidents of fire and explosion when using a vape are due to improper and unsafe use. One of the most common accidents is when a vaper uses a hybrid mech mod with an atomizer (tank, RTA or RDA) that does not protrude the positive terminal. Why is this a problem? Simply because if this combination is actually created, the battery will discharge violently and explode.
The explosive force of 18650 batteries is not too strong, but they can discharge very strongly to relieve pressure. This discharge releases chemicals and sparks in the discharge hole right under the positive terminal of the battery. Such strong discharges can cause serious accidents if the device does not have a good discharge hole.
What is a hybrid mech mod?
Hybrid mechs are a type of mech that can directly connect the atomizer to the battery. The reason this type of device is popular is because this direct connection can make the power transfer faster, creating stronger and faster puffs.
Structure of RDA
When you look at the bottom of any RDA, you will see a flat round block, this is the positive pin of the atomizer. Look at the ring that covers the positive pin, the entire part including the screw thread is the negative terminal of the atomizer. Between these two parts, you will see a small piece of gray or clear plastic, this is the part that separates the negative and positive terminals. The positive pin may or may not be adjustable depending on the type of RDA.
Why is your vape device having problems?
Now that you know the positive and negative terminals of the connection pins, what happens if you accidentally screw the positive pin in too tight, or fail to adjust the positive pin? Or what happens if your RDA has poor insulation and it melts during use?
The answer is, a short circuit will cause an electrical spark. This short circuit will cause the battery to leak, and if the vent of the device is not good, the mech will turn into a mini bomb. This is why you should always be careful when using mech mods, especially hybrid mods, and you should only use RDAs that have adjustable positive pins.
What is the difference between hybrid mod and regular mech mod?
The biggest difference between mech mod and hybrid is the contact pins of the two types of devices. The contact pins of hybrid mods can directly touch the battery, and the connection point of hybrid mods does not have an insulating film like normal mechs. Therefore, during use, users must pay close attention, only choose RTA or RDA with protruding positive pins, and absolutely do not use sub ohm atomizers with mech hybrids.
