Campaign Support: Nationwide Peaceful Vapers Rally

A large part of the vaping community seems to be calling for more tangible action. However, Marcy Coyne, a vaping advocate, is organizing the “NationWide Peaceful Vapers Rally.” This is an event based on the idea of bringing vaping to the streets of DC in the form of a righteous, pro-vaping protest against some of the regulations the FDA has imposed on the industry.

Some vaping advocates have discussed the possibility of creating a proper advocacy event where vapers can have their voices heard. This is the idea that Marcy Coyne is trying to develop through the event Vapingpost will be covering today. For more details, we spoke by phone with Marcy Coyne, a vaping advocate and organizer of the event in Toledo, Ohio.

A proper publicity stunt to get public attention

The event involves gathering as many vapers as possible in one day to deliver a strong message to the authorities and strengthen the bond between those who have decided to switch to e-cigarettes and those concerned about the dangers that e-cigarettes currently face.

When Marcy Coyne first started pursuing this idea, she received a mixed response from the vaping community. The event was split 50/50. One would think that everyone who supports vaping would be eager to attend an event like this. While there were many who supported Marcy’s plan to demonstrate this properly, it seems that the vaping community is still undecided about whether or not they will go along with it.

Given the FDA's harsh regulations on e-cigarette products, it's safe to assume that vapers would be thrilled with the idea of spreading the word in the US, a capital where every day there seems to be another harsh law being passed.

People need to behave properly.

“We always ask people to behave properly, we will not allow childish behavior or disrespect at this rally. This is why this event is called the “NationWide PEACEFUL Vapers Rally,” Marcy explained.

This pro-vaper advocate recounted that many vapers have been constantly asking her to stand up and organize propaganda. “We have been waiting for some pro-vaping group to organize an event like this, but it has been months, and we don’t want to wait anymore,” Marcy told us.

For now, the main goal of the “Nation Wide Peaceful Vapers Rally” is simply to make the voice of the vaping community heard. Marcy says “they hope to get the FDA to soften the rules.” For those who can’t make it to DC on October 19, Coyne suggests they could organize a similar event in their own state and speak there.

“No matter what, I will not back down from fighting these laws,” said the longtime vaping advocate. “If the vaping community can actually come out and participate on October 19, we can unite to send a big, meaningful message to the government.”

Call for contributions

The money Marcy is trying to raise for this event will go towards travel arrangements for those who want to attend this event. They will get permits for this event so that they don’t get caught up in legal issues. During the conversation, Coyne also told us about her anxiety and nervousness, she really hopes that the local media will not understand their purpose, message or intention.

Although Marcy is confident in her experience, she still doesn’t know what to expect because of the mixed reactions from the vaping community but she won’t back down and believes that moving forward is the best solution.
