Drip tip - a seemingly inanimate but extremely important part when vaping! (part 2)

Of all the details from coil, cotton, chimney, chamber,... have you ever thought that the Drip Tip is the piece that affects the vape experience the most? Why good atomizers should never lack a "genuine" drip tip, let's find out with TVC through this article.

Review part 1 of the article here .

4. Popular drip tip materials

Synthetic resin drip tip

This is the most popular type of drip tip because it has the advantage of…you guessed it…it’s cheap! Plastic drip tips are easy to process, so they are relatively affordable. In addition, plastic is also heat-insulating and feels quite soft when placed in the mouth, so it can be said that this is the national material for making tips.

Different types of plastic will also give their own unique colors and visual impressions. Some popular materials and their advantages/disadvantages will be listed below:

  • Resin: The advantage is that it is very cheap, easy to mix and add bright colors. The disadvantage of resin is probably its poor ability to retain shine, your resin drip tip will quickly get teeth marks, scratches or chips with just a few falls on the floor.

  • Delrin: Delrin is widely used in the vape industry to make all kinds of parts because of its good impact resistance while having a fairly high hardness, creating a solid feeling when used. Delrin plastic is often beautiful jet black, suitable for many models regardless of style.

  • Ultem: Ultem or PEI plastic is another hard plastic that is widely used in vape products. Ultem plastic is honey yellow, the color is dark or light depending on the manufacturer. The general characteristics of ultem are similar to delrin, which is high mechanical strength, good heat and chemical resistance, so ultem drip tips will accompany you for a very long time.

  • Peek: This is the highest quality plastic you can find in a drip tip. In terms of hardness and durability, peek is a step above delrin or ultem. If you take apart any RDA or RTA, you will see that the insulation between the positive and negative poles of that atomizer is also made of peek. Peek is almost impervious to chemicals and has excellent heat resistance, so much so that even when placed right next to the coil, it will never melt.

  • Silicone: Silicone drip tips are not designed to last as long as other materials. Silicone drip tips are often used with disposable cartridges because the material is soft and porous, so you won’t be able to clean it completely after a long time of use.

Metal drip tip

Unlike plastic, metal drip tips give a completely different feeling of suction, cooler and more sturdy, much more solid than plastic. Except for lead and mercury, I think any metal can be made into a drip tip, it's all about how much you're willing to spend. The most common materials for making drip tips are stainless steel and anodized aluminum. Although tips made of this material are more durable, if the surface is not processed carefully, they also have a disadvantage: saliva sticks to the surface after a period of use.

This drawback can be easily fixed by cleaning regularly, but well, if you don't know, you can just turn a blind eye, but now that you know, the next time you're about to ask someone who's using a metal tip for a vape, think twice.

5. Famous drip tip brands

Just when you thought that a simple part like a drip tip couldn’t be too expensive, here, let me surprise you! Like every other important part of a vape, drip tips also have a high-end segment with prices 10-15 times higher than normal. High-end drip tips will often have some cool features like increasing or decreasing diameter, changing height, changing color, or it can simply come from a reputable and skilled manufacturer.

Some famous drip tip brands that are sought after by many people include Steam Tuners with a drip tip series from T1 to T15 with a variety of materials. Kaser with modular drip tips, the tip and wind battery inside can be changed to create many smoking experiences with just one tip. Or OMC, a brand completely designed and manufactured by Vietnamese people, chooses a hybrid style, combining 316 steel with interwoven delrin pieces that are very trendy.

Conclude

Most of the time, when you buy a vape device or a vape kit, you will be given a drip tip from the manufacturer, and in most cases, you will not have any problems with this original tip. However, playing vape is a journey of discovery, and since it is a journey, buying more accessories to pamper yourself is not wrong, right guys?

In short, when buying a new tip, put aesthetics first, the tip must match the color and design of the entire machine, then it is a tip worth spending money on. But don't forget to try it out to see if it suits your smoking style! Hope you will find your favorite accessory.

Stay safe, vape on!
