Flavor-chaser - Flavor Chasers (Part 1)

Want to blow out clouds of smoke? Want to create a thick vape mist that blocks your vision? Probably not.

Actually, there is nothing wrong with being a cloud-chaser. But if you have clicked to read this article, you are like me, a flavor-chaser or more commonly known as a flavor-chaser. Most vapers when they first start are familiar with smoke-chasing combos, starter kits or 2-battery box mods with RDAs, especially when you start vaping in 2015-2016, when the Tesla Invader 3 combo with RDA Tsunami was truly the king of the vaping community. But over time, my enjoyment of thick smoke was no longer there, instead I learned more about flavors, started buying more complex bottles of essential oils and learned to cherish and ponder them. Because after all, vaping is most different from traditional cigarettes in the flavor it brings.

So how to enjoy the maximum flavor of a bottle of essential oil, let's find out with me in this article.

1 - Set up appropriate power and temperature when vaping

Adjusting the wattage or temperature is the simplest way to improve the flavor. Each flavor and blend in the bottle of juice needs to be vaporized at a different temperature, and by adjusting the wattage, you will control the heat of the coil. This is also the reason why flavor-chasers always own vapes that can customize the wattage.

My advice is to start low and gradually increase the wattage until the flavor really shines. Each juice has its own “brightness range”, to know it you need to experience a lot. For example, one flavor tastes good at 20W but another needs to be burned up to 35W, for example.

Once you are familiar with adjusting wattage, you can learn more about “Temp-control” mode, abbreviated as TC mode. Temperature plays a decisive role in whether you can enjoy the flavor of your juice or not. Setting up to burn on TC mode requires some experience, but once you get the hang of it, I guarantee that every puff you take will be the best.

2 - Reduce Airflow

For smokers, a large air vent is extremely important. Having a large amount of air passing through the coil helps dissipate heat, while also making the vape smoke less dense to create large clouds. The downside of this type of wind is that it produces less flavor, only suitable for smoking simple, single-unit bottles of essential oils.

For flavor players, on the contrary, we do not need a large amount of smoke nor do we need to burn at high temperatures, closing the air vents will be the optimal choice. This helps create a warm, humid vape and brings out more flavor. Most burners have an airflow adjustment mechanism, so you don't need to worry too much.

However, airflow adjustment cannot be done arbitrarily. Closing the airflow too tightly will not only not increase the flavor but also cause the coil to break quickly due to poor heat dissipation. Balancing temperature and airflow is something that any flavor-chaser needs to understand. Let's find out how to adjust the airflow to achieve the most harmonious results.

It should be added that closing the air passage also makes the juice harsher, so if you are not used to the throat-burning feeling, it is best to start with juices with a vg/pg ratio of 60/40 and at a low nicotine level.

3 - Choose the right type of coil

Each coil you choose will have a different heating style, so they play a big role in how you perceive the flavor. While the answer to which coils are good or bad in which juice is highly personal, you can still refer to some general recipes from previous vapers.

“What is a good coil?” is a complicated and confusing question. If you ask 100 vapers this question, you will get a dozen different answers. The best way is to find out for yourself, it took me a whole week to find the formula that worked best for me. Vaping is a hobby that emphasizes exploration and research, so don’t be discouraged if you haven’t found the “truth”.

The latest user-friendly devices today are pod mods or vape pens, just fill up the juice and inhale, the manufacturers will take care of the rest. Like all other types of vapes, the quality of the flavor you get depends mainly on the coil. That is why the same bottle of juice on different pod devices will give different experiences. Although pod mods are becoming more and more modern and applying many new technologies, in general, they still lack an important thing, the thing that makes many vapers pursue this hobby, which is customization. If you really want to become a "fan" of flavor, pod mods are probably not the optimal choice, at least not yet.
