Introduction to safe use of electronic cigarette batteries

How to use batteries safely is always a big question for vapers , and today, vaper, electrical engineer Mooch will have a series of articles on instructions for use and safety of electronic cigarette batteries.

Introduction

Hi, you can call me Mooch

I've done a lot of battery testing on the ECF forum and Reddit (under the name Mooch315) and I'll be writing a series of posts about batteries and battery safety here.

There is a lot of information floating around about batteries online, some of it right and some of it wrong, so why should you listen to my advice? Because I am a vaper, and also a freelance electrical engineer.

Since 1992, I have specialized in designing energy management equipment such as battery chargers , power supplies, battery discharge/testing supplies, and battery protection and control systems. I have the experience, tools, and technical know-how to filter out the right from the wrong. My job is to make sure the batteries my customers use in their products are safe. And I want to do the same for the vaping community.

When I first started vaping, I noticed a lot of misinformation floating around. From exaggerated reviews to unsafe battery disposal practices, vapers are surrounded by incorrect and dangerous information. The batteries we use are not grenades waiting to be unpinned, but objects that need our attention and respect for the energy they carry.

With the information I am about to share, I hope to help you, the vapers, avoid unnecessary accidents when using. I hope to send you the necessary information to use the battery to the maximum and as safely as possible.

The issues we will be discussing in this discussion…

- How does temperature affect battery life and safety?

- What is Continuous Practical Discharge Rate (CDR)? Why is it important?

- Battery surges are unnecessary and dangerous.

- No 18650 battery up to 30A

- What is a chemical battery? What do IMR, INR and ICR mean?

- What are LiPo batteries? Are they dangerous?

- What is ventilation and heat protection?

- What should you do if the battery overheats?

- What are roll-up batteries? Are they safe to use?

- Where can you buy genuine batteries?

- Choose a safe battery type for your mech mod

- Choose safe battery type for regular mod

- How to charge battery safely

- What are battery covers? Why do you have to keep them in the best condition?

- When should batteries be replaced? How long do they last?

- How long can a battery be stored?

Feel free to leave comments on any questions you may have. I’ll be happy to answer and look forward to hearing from you.
