Here is my brief review of a new essential oil I just tried. It is called “Mèche Brûlée.”
First, your taste buds will be assaulted by the smell of a pile of half-burnt old newspapers, accompanied by the feeling that someone is rubbing sandpaper into your nasal cavity until your nose burns from the friction.
Your throat will feel like someone is scratching it with a cheese knife, the taste in your mouth will remind you of the poisonous gas you often see in the Batman series in the 60s. The gas is light purple, when it is released, the main couple will have to hold their necks, fall to the ground and try to breathe.
Wait, “Mèche Brûlée” isn’t the name of any e-liquid, it’s just a clumsy Google translation of the French word “burnt cotton.” And yes, that’s exactly what you get from a burnt coil , or more accurately, burnt cotton. And not only does it taste horrible, burnt cotton will ruin your entire coil and cost you more money to replace it.
The good news is, with just a few simple steps, you can prevent coil burn, or at least make it less likely.
Wait, how do you know your coil is burned?
If your coil is really burnt, you'll know it immediately - the horrible taste of Meche Brûlée is unmistakable!
Even if your coil has just burned a little bit, you will notice a little burnt taste, just a feeling that something is not right. Since we know that burned coils produce toxic gases, even if it has just burned a little bit, you should replace the coil immediately.
Sometimes, even when you’ve just installed a new coil, you’ll still taste the burnt coil. Sometimes this will go away after a few puffs, but other times it’s a sign that you should change your e-juice.
Why does the coil burn?
If you want to avoid burning out your coils, you first need to know why they burn out. This is actually pretty simple and is the basis for all the advice in this article.
First, think about vaping without burning out your coil. When you press the power button, electricity passes through the coil and heats it up. The heat from the coil is absorbed by the e-liquid in the cotton and turns it into vapor. Because there is e-liquid to offset some of the heat generated by the coil, the temperature of the coil will not rise too high.
Coil burns because cotton does not absorb enough essential oil
Once the essential oil in the cotton has evaporated, the cotton dries out. However, as your tank fills with essential oil, it will continually replace the evaporated essential oil in the cotton. This means that by the time you take your second or third puff, the cotton will be re-soaked and the process will repeat itself perfectly.
But what happens when there’s no more e-liquid left in the wick, or there’s not enough e-liquid? Now, when you press the start button and the coil heats up, there’s nothing to absorb the heat. The inevitable result is that the temperature of the coil will continue to rise, which leads to two undesirable problems:
The remaining essential oil on the essential oil will be cooked, overheated causing the PG to decompose into formaldehyde. And you must know, this stuff is very toxic and tastes terrible.
Without the protection of e-liquid, the cotton is exposed to a very hot coil. Since the cotton is made of cotton fibers, it will burn immediately. If the cotton dries out completely, it will burst into flames. And the taste of burnt cotton is extremely, extremely horrible.
This is the main ingredient of “Mèche Brûlée” in the first introduction. Cotton burned with a little formaldehyde. Two horrible flavors mixed together will create the most horrible tasting essential oil you have ever known.
Above are the reasons why your coil and cotton pair burn during vaping. In the next article, The Vape Club will guide everyone on how to prevent coil burning.
