You can simply rinse it with hot water to remove any buildup. This buildup is created during the vaporization reaction of two components in the e-liquid. One is the sugar that crystallizes from the e-liquid. Many e-liquids are sweetened, so they contain sugar molecules. These molecules heat and cool quickly, forming a precipitate that eventually forms a sticky film.
Another cause of buildup is heat from the coil causing scale to form and affect the operation of the coil. You should clean both the burner and the coil (replace if necessary), as this buildup can cause damage to the device.
Another part that needs to be kept clean is the drip tip, because it is prone to picking up a lot of bacteria because the user's hands or mouth are constantly touching it. Although bacteria are usually quite neutral, it is not uncommon for something toxic to come into contact with the drip tip.
To clean the driptip, simply remove it from the burner, rinse it with warm water, and wipe it clean with a soft cloth. If you want to be extra careful, you can soak a little alcohol in a cloth to wipe the driptip, then rinse it with water.
