My parents were never happy about my smoking habits. Actually, most parents are like that, mine were just particularly strict. So when I started vaping , I didn’t tell them. Every time I visited my parents, I would vape continuously for the entire 45-minute drive and only vape in their bathroom. I wanted them to notice that I didn’t smell bad anymore without having to explain. I was afraid they would just believe the media’s false news. It took me 7 months to finally tell them my secret.
Conversation
I was sitting in my parents' living room, playing with my phone and absentmindedly taking a few puffs from my Club50 , and by this point, I had gotten used to this new habit. Through many experiences in large meetings and out in public, I realized that most people didn't notice that I was vaping.
So when my mom saw the Club50 and asked what it was, I hesitantly replied that it was an e-cigarette. She looked at it and said it was cool, she had seen these things in supermarket kiosks.

I was surprised and thought, really, she knows about these things and thinks they are cool? I quickly explained to her that the disposable e-cigarettes in the supermarket are not as good as my Club50. I showed her the device and explained how to use it. She didn’t think it was a big deal and was just happy that I didn’t smell bad anymore.
I think my dad knows about my vaping habit, but we don't talk about it much. My dad and I usually spend time watching action movies together. I always vape when we're in the theater, and he never says anything, so I think he either doesn't know or doesn't care.
What happened next
I love my parents very much. Even though my family doesn’t talk or share things with each other, I know they care and support me. I’m glad they’re not too alarmed by my new habit. Now I can vape freely around them. I don’t feel like a kid hiding something bad from my parents. I feel like an adult now! Well, almost. I don’t want to grow up.
