Is Apple planning to get into the vaping world? Are they developing a new mod? This is the question that Apple fans are asking when they receive the news that Apple has applied for a patent for a “sublimator/vaporizer” product published in the technology press.
Rumor
According to Digital Trends in July 2016, Apple filed a patent application for a product that closely resembles a vape device. The only difference between this patent and other vape patents is that it does not include information about the final product or the materials used in the manufacturing process.
“Apple has been granted a new patent for a high-tech vape device,” MacWorld writes. “The patent, issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, describes a device that uses Apple technology to create a continuous vaporization capability, meaning more e-liquid is vaporized and the device doesn’t have to take as long to cool down.”
BGR also has a summary of the patented product information, which is described as follows:
“The inner chamber contains the solution to be vaporized. The inner disc with the bottom side in contact with the solution is temperature controlled by a heater that will directly release heat onto the solution below. The disc will slide down after the solution is vaporized.”
This certification could be seen as an interesting move for Apple, which is still working on new products such as smart home products or vehicles, according to CNN. While many people hope this is a certification for a new vape device, the product could have many applications, including medical and agricultural applications.
If Apple gets into the vaping market, it could mean a safer nicotine delivery system that could certainly help people who want to quit smoking. And if the device uses a thicker solution than regular e-liquid, it could potentially be made with healthier ingredients.
However, according to a recent analysis by greenrushdaily, they say:
According to the structure described in the patent, the device is made with new technology, and the e-liquid heating element is very different from those available on the market. Instead of just heating the e-liquid, the device compresses the e-liquid, leading many to believe that this device cannot be a vape device, and that liquid vape e-liquid will not work according to the structure of the device.
iVape Patented Construction
Furthermore, Apple probably has no intention of getting into the vaping market. Some have pointed out that the negatives associated with tobacco and vaping are not in line with Apple’s style. Furthermore, vaping in the US is currently in a state of limbo between legal and illegal, so it is highly unlikely that an American company would invest in a product that is still in controversy.
Does Apple really want to get into the vaping market? That’s an open question. If the rumors are true, and Apple is investing in the vaping market, it would be great news for the vaping community.
