Nowadays, science has researched many methods to quit smoking. In addition to using electronic cigarettes to replace traditional cigarettes, the market also has nicotine patches that help smokers lose their cravings.
Which one is more effective?
Scientists in New Zealand tested traditional cigarette smokers on two methods of quitting smoking: using e-cigarettes or nicotine patches. The results showed that among those who still smoked, nearly 60% who used e-cigarettes reduced the number of cigarettes they smoked by half, while the rate was 41% with nicotine patches.
During follow-up, side effects were similar between e-cigarette and nicotine patch use. The most common side effect across all groups was respiratory problems.
Since then, e-cigarettes have been shown to be a healthy alternative to conventional nicotine products. This is a pioneering study in the medical field, which has the effect of recommending e-cigarettes to people who want to reduce or quit traditional cigarettes.
