Let's take a look at the most popular vape oils and flavors on the market today.
Vaping requires the use of essential oils. That essential oil is called E-liquid or simply called essential oil. Vape essential oil has a base ingredient and three optional ingredients. The main ingredient is VG . The three optional ingredients can be mixed in the ratio chosen by the vaper : PG , flavor and diluted nicotine .
In the early days of vaping (before 2012), PG was often used as a base for e-liquid. VG was later replaced by PG, there are two reasons why VG has become more dominant, one is that VG produces more vapor and is safer (because some people are allergic to PG). In addition, distilled water is sometimes used to reduce the thickness of the e-liquid, but this ingredient is rarely used.
With e-liquids, whether VG, PG, or a blend of both is used as a base, flavoring still needs to be added. This has opened up a world of possibilities for rich flavors that can be created. Companies that have been making edible flavored e-liquids for decades have seen a new market for e-liquid flavors.
The problem is: Edible flavors are different from inhalable flavors. Flavors that are safe to eat are not necessarily safe to inhale, even in very small amounts. And we still don't have much in-depth research on the safety of flavors when taken into the body through the trachea.
While these are being clarified through scientific research, essential oil flavors have exploded onto the market with all sorts of wonderful flavors, which can be categorized into major flavor groups.
Essential oil flavors
Essentially, essential oil flavors can be classified into categories much like we classify food groups. The most popular flavor is probably dessert flavors, the second is fruit flavors, and other flavor groups also make up a portion of the market.
Dessert flavor
Dessert flavored essential oils are very popular.
The dessert flavor group includes the most basic categories: cakes, milky desserts. To be fair, these flavors can only be evoked, not completely created. For example, the flavor of baked apple pie cannot truly create the feeling of eating real apple pie, and the flavor of ice cream can only partially simulate the taste of the real thing.
When dessert-flavored e-liquids are truly crafted, with the best combination of flavors in a stable formula, they can actually come close to the taste of the real thing. However, formulas that come close are rare.
There are three specific flavors that need to be mentioned, because they are most commonly used in desserts: vanilla, caramel, and chocolate.
Vanilla is definitely the most used flavor in most essential oils. Not just a single flavor, vanilla has many types and subtle differences such as vanilla, vanilla bean, Madagascar vanilla, Thitian vanilla, bourbon vanilla, etc. Combined with milk, vanilla can become even more prominent, for example Bavarian cream, Catalyn cream, Vienna cream, etc.
Caramel is basically cooked or burnt sugar. Caramel imparts a very characteristic sweetness to essential oils.
Chocolate, in most varieties like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, etc., is a flavor that everyone loves. Unfortunately for vapers, chocolate doesn’t really work well as an e-juice flavor. Unlike vanilla, which can be added to a variety of e-juices, chocolate-flavored e-juices are rare. The most common complaint about chocolate-flavored e-juice is that it tastes more like a Tootsie Roll than chocolate.
Fruit flavor
Essential oil with fruit flavor easy to use
Fruit flavors are incredibly popular, second only to dessert flavors. The beauty of fruit flavors is that they can be recreated accurately, much more easily than dessert flavors. Fruit flavors are simple but still delicious, almost all fruit flavors can be vaped whether they are sour, sweet, or both. It is not uncommon for e-liquids to have a flavor that is a mixture of two or more fruits. Moreover, fruit flavors are also used as a spice for desserts like blueberry cheesecake. Dessert and fruit flavors are a perfect match.
Tobacco flavor
The taste of tobacco is attractive when first used.
Many new vapers who are trying to quit smoking use tobacco-flavored e-liquids. Most of these flavors are artificial, made in a lab. But tobacco flavor can also be extracted from tobacco in the same way as fruit flavor extracts.
And after quitting smoking, the taste of tobacco also loses its inherent appeal. The longer you vape, the more likely you are to move away from tobacco-flavored e-liquids, and these vapers often switch to other flavors.
Candy flavor
The candy flavor makes many people feel nostalgic.
Candy flavors are a big draw for younger vapers, many of whom grew up in the age of traditional candy. In addition to the popular caramel, there are other popular flavors like Skittles, pop rock, etc. Along with breakfast flavors, the appeal of candy flavors is the memories of the little joys of childhood that they can evoke.
Breakfast food taste
Cereal has become a staple in this category. There are complex flavor combinations that go beyond cereal to include fruit and milk. About two or three years ago, breakfast flavors were limited to donuts and waffles or rolls. More recently, breakfast flavors have exploded, inspired by what kids eat for breakfast.
Flower flavor
Floral flavors are a rare and unique group of vapes. The light floral aroma is very different from the food and other flavors that vapers can find. When produced with premium flavorings or natural extracts, floral e-liquids are truly wonderful.
Drink flavor
The first group of flavors includes alcoholic beverages such as rum, whiskey, brandy, etc. They also include the flavors of fruit smoothies such as mango, lychee, etc. The choices for you are really rich.
Strange taste
This group of unique flavors includes flavors that no one thinks can be used for vaping, such as meat, cheeseburger, pizza... Many vapers have ignored these strange flavors, but they still exist on the market.
Another approach, flavorless essential oils
Since flavorings are also a health concern, some vapers completely ignore the issue by using flavorless e-liquids. These e-liquids are simply VG with or without nicotine, VG has a slightly sweet taste so when you use it, it feels like sugar water, quite pleasant. Honestly, it doesn’t taste good, because it has no taste other than a slightly sweet smell. However, it is an acceptable e-liquid, easy to use and… cheap.
