To continue the previous episodes, today I will talk about the topic of Mech mod or its full name is Mechanical Mod.
Mech mod is a vape device with an extremely simple structure and shape, usually in the shape of a tube, containing a battery inside and a round button below to activate the device. It is a type of mechanical machine also known as Unregulated mod
Mech mod will not have electronic circuit board, solder joints, wires,... but simply after pressing the button all electricity will be sent directly from below to the burner without processing the circuit board.
Note: Mech mod is not for beginners or those who have been using vape for a short time because mech mod does not have a battery safety mechanism like devices with circuit boards such as box mod, starter kit, AIO,... and requires users to have a certain amount of knowledge about how to use and clean Mech mod, in addition, they must also learn to control battery types, choose batteries that are suitable for the Mech they are using.
So are mech mods safe? How can I use mech mods without causing an explosion? Should I choose a Mech mod or not?
One of the reasons why long-time Vapers or those who have a solid knowledge of this Mechanical Mod line first is the structure. Mech mod, although its structure is very simple, just a tube and is usually made mainly of copper, so the body is very durable and can withstand strong impacts. In addition, the inside does not have a circuit board or wires, so repairing will be much simpler than Box, AIO, Starter kit, etc. Because the inside contains a circuit board, if only one part is damaged, the essential oil seeps into the circuit, the circuit wire slips, etc., repairing will be quite troublesome, or like battery-powered devices, when the battery life is exhausted, it will no longer be usable.
The main point of many people deciding to choose to use this mechanical machine is because of its ability to be used even at extremely low resistance, which is often not possible with machines with electronic chips, but it is also dangerous if the user does not have much knowledge or is not familiar with this machine.
Here are some tips when using Mech mod
Buy a multimeter or separate charger
Why do you need this? It is to easily control the battery voltage, the resistance of the burner and to detect the short circuit of the Mech body. You can easily buy a multimeter at any electronics store. In addition, if you cannot buy a multimeter, you can use a separate battery charger with an electronic display. It will also provide enough data about the battery so that you can control the battery more easily.
Battery quality
When using a Mech mod, you should not carelessly choose a random battery to use because the main power that helps the Mech mod work strongly and well comes first from the battery you use, so if the battery is old or torn, you should throw it away and do not try to continue using it if you do not want your Mech to be in use and Boom!!! 1 shot.
When using the charger, you should also pay attention to the parameters related to Volt, because the charger to fully charge a battery will have a voltage of about 4.15 - 4.20 Volt, if the battery is charged above this value, the battery life will be shortened as well as the quality of the battery has decreased. At this time, you should replace a new battery to ensure safety when using.
Resistance - Ohm
This is more related to the burner than the Mech body. After you build the coil into the burner, you should check the resistance or as the builders often call it, the Ohm number. This ohm number will determine whether the temperature, the amount of smoke as well as the safety when you use this mechanical machine is safe enough or not. Usually, as I use it, the Ohm range will fall between 0.14 to 0.18 - 0.2 ohm, the amount of smoke is just enough, the temperature is stable but it is only safe for me because I have used the mech for about 1-2 years so I know how it works. For those who are new to using it, you should leave the resistance around 0.18ohm to 0.25 ohm to ensure safety.
Special note: For this Mech or Unregulated mod (mechanical type), there will be NO limit on the discharge of the battery. How much the battery discharges will depend entirely on the coil. If you build a coil with low impedance, the battery will discharge high. On the contrary, if the coil has high impedance, the battery will discharge low. This is the reason why I talked about the usage tips before going into this special note. Because forcing the battery to discharge high means you build a coil with low resistance, the battery will discharge more and more strongly, which means the battery will run out quickly, the battery temperature will increase sharply, causing the battery life to decrease as well as the body to heat up quickly.
In addition, if you drop or hit your Mech a lot, causing it to be dented or scratched, it will have another phenomenon called Drop Volt. You can simply understand that there will be a layer of insulating paint wrapped around the body of the machine and when you cause the body to be dented or scratched, this power source will be interrupted, causing the power source to conduct unevenly in the dented position and that position will increase resistance, generating more heat than other positions. And then in the dented area of the Mech body, heat will accumulate and generate more heat, the resistance increases, causing the Mech body to heat up quickly and abnormally, if left for a long time, it is very easy to cause fire or explosion.
