Closed Vape 101 - How to become a ninja vaper

Now more than ever, it’s time for the vaping community to learn how to vape discreetly and politely. And today, Ian shows us how to vape like normal without attracting attention.

Now more than ever, it’s time for the vaper community to learn how to vape discreetly and politely. Vapers around the world are currently facing the threat of the FDA’s vaping bill in the US and the TPD’s Article 20 bill in Europe, which has turned a harmless hobby into a never-ending debate. Vaping bans have been placed in bars, stores, and even public places, despite overwhelming scientific and medical evidence showing that vaping is 95 percent safer than smoking.

In this comprehensive guide, we’ll look at more discreet ways to vape, the devices and e-juices that are suitable for this method, and how to vape in the office, on planes, and other public places. We’re not breaking the law, but learning to live with it, while still having the right to vape safely and discreetly.

What is a closed vape?

In simple terms, it’s a method of minimizing the signs of vaping to avoid causing trouble and annoyance to those around you. The main point of this method is to reduce the size of the clouds you exhale, but of course there are other factors to consider, such as the size of the device you use or the scent of the e-liquid you like.

Why should you vape discreetly?

There are a number of reasons why it is imperative that you vape as discreetly as possible, especially since vaping has become so popular, so much public attention is focused on us.

Public Opinion - The controls in Europe and the US have affected the public's view of vaping. Although vaping is much safer than smoking, those who are not well informed now believe that vaping is a threat to public health. Discreet vaping techniques will help us avoid conflict with those who believe the misinformation spread by anti-vaping advocates.

Vaping is subtle - Maybe you just want to be alone with your vape. But creating a big cloud of vapor is not only inappropriate, but it also attracts a lot of unwanted attention. Many professional vapers get asked about their devices when using them in public, and sometimes they just want to be alone.

Avoiding temptation - The problem is that many workplaces force vapers to share the same space with smokers. This directly conflicts with the benefits of vaping, forcing us to breathe in the smell of cigarette smoke and contend with the pressure. This is especially true for new vapers who need to stay away from cigarette smoke for the first few months. If you can vape unnoticed, away from smokers, this will go a long way in helping you kick the habit.

Be respectful - Vaping can be uncomfortable in some situations, such as in a movie theater or restaurant. No one wants to see a cloud of smoke hovering over the screen while watching a blockbuster. However, if you can vape discreetly, you can still get your nicotine fix without disturbing anyone.

Fire Alarms - This is more than just vaping without disturbing others. Vaping can trigger some fire alarms. Vaping discreetly reduces the likelihood of this happening by minimizing the amount of smoke released.

Vaping Rights - The unfortunate reality is that the ban on vaping is spreading. Vaping smoke dissipates quickly, and it doesn’t burn or have the same effects as cigarette smoke. And this is where our personal rights come into play over this annoying ban. This doesn’t mean we’re going to bend the rules, we’re just going to have to figure out how to live with it.

Fake Bans - A simple answer to the ban on vapes is that they look like cigarettes, and employees and smokers naturally can't tell the difference. Many vapers find this reason ridiculous, just because a device looks like something else doesn't mean it's banned outright.

Vape fumes - A common complaint from non-vapers is vape fumes. Although there has been an official report from the UK government that vape fumes are not dangerous, reducing or eliminating them can be beneficial, and trying to mask the signs of vaping in certain situations can avoid unnecessary trouble.

Is that acceptable?

This is a complicated issue. Excessive puffing can be disruptive and attract unwanted attention, but if these issues are so minor that no one notices them, it’s hard to justify denying yourself a harmless pleasure. Be aware of situations where you absolutely must vape discreetly.

Vaping in the workplace - Many workplaces have implemented vaping bans without considering the available scientific evidence. If it affects your work, you should try to avoid it.

Vaping in Public - States like California have banned vaping in public, labeling it as harmful as smoking. It's hard to understand why this is the case when there's so much scientific evidence that vaping is much safer. Many vapers believe that as long as they're not affecting others, there's really no need for a ban, so in this situation, discreet vaping is a good way to go.

Vaping on planes - Vaping has been banned by many airlines, so even if you use a concealed vape method to ensure there is no significant evidence, you are still taking a big risk. While there are not many reports of people being fined and prosecuted, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Devices and essential oils suitable for closed vaping

Stealth kit is a pretty good choice for a hidden vape

The clouds produced by sub ohm vapes are too noticeable, and bulky box mods are not a good choice. The most suitable devices for this method are compact box mods like Minivolt, Stealth, Pico… or eGo devices like AIO, EVOD, Subvod are quite good choices because they are all small in shape, most of which can fit in the palm of your hand.

For closed vapes, you should choose a high PG e-liquid, because PG e-liquid has a lower smoke-producing ability than VG. You should try to choose a consistent and suitable ratio for yourself, because too much PG can cause a sore throat.

Closed vape technique

Once you've chosen the right device and e-juice for you, it's time to learn some skills to make sure you can vape without being noticed.

Deep Inhale - This is one of the simplest and most effective ways to vape. Using a medium resistance with a high PG e-liquid, take a deep breath and hold it in your lungs for a few seconds before exhaling. You will notice that the vapor produced is much smaller while still giving you the nicotine hit you need.

Inhale - A variation on the deep inhale, take a puff of air after you vape and hold it for a moment. This will dilute the smoke, making it even less noticeable when you exhale.

Swallow - Take a deep breath and swallow it down and hold it for a moment then exhale through your nose. Very little, almost no smoke is produced. This way most of the smoke is sucked into the lungs and diluted by oxygen.

Blowing into your shirt - We've done this a few times. It's easy, just take a breath and blow the smoke into your shirt. The fabric will absorb some of the smoke and it's much less noticeable than blowing a bunch of smoke into the air. But there's a downside to this method, if you inhale too much you'll see smoke all over your shirt.

Blowing on a towel - Just like blowing on your shirt, you will be blowing air into a handkerchief or tissue, which will absorb the scent of the essential oils and smoke.

Changing the e-liquid - This is where the mixers come in. High PG e-liquids are best for closed vaping, but if you have allergies or prefer VG, add a little water to your VG e-liquid. Water doesn't create smoke, so it will dissipate the smoke. But be careful, because the water will heat up when you vape, so don't add more than 10%.

The smell of essential oils

The smoke isn’t the only evidence, the smell of the e-liquid is the most obvious evidence that you’ve been vaping. The most negative way is to smoke unscented e-liquid, but this takes away some of the fun of vaping. Some smells are very obvious, while others are best suited to a closed-off vape.

Smells good:

The citrus scent blends easily into the environment and is less noticeable.

Citrus scents - Choosing fresh scents like lemon or orange is always a smart choice. These scents are suitable for any situation, they can even be mistaken for floor cleaner or dishwashing liquid.

Peppermint - Like citrus, this scent is not noticeable in an office or public area. Although it is very strong, the smell dissipates quickly before it hits the air and is often mistaken for mint or chewing gum.

Creamy Scents - Creamy flavors are usually very mild, and don't affect the surroundings too much. As long as you use essential oils that have a light and simple cream flavor, no one will notice you.

Scents not to be used:

Essential oils with a strawberry scent are often noticeable.

Cigarette Smell - This one should be crossed off the list immediately. Smoking in enclosed spaces in public places is banned and the smell is unnatural.

Cake and Dessert Smell - Although it is delicious, its taste is too distinctive and easily recognizable.

Strawberry - The smell of strawberries is very strange, some people can barely smell it, some people can immediately notice it. The sugary smell of strawberries makes things worse as it often leaves a sweet aftertaste in the air long after the vape is finished.

Conclude

Yes, discreet vaping is a useful and easy skill to learn. By simply reducing your smoke output and using the right e-juice, you can make your vaping discreet. But pay attention to the law, and don’t let this knowledge put your life or freedom in danger.
